The collection includes records created by Elle Andra-Warner during research for an article for Aviator magazine about Erik Watt's play "Bush Pilots".

The photographs (227 colour slides and 7 b&w negatives) document Pi's life on his trapline around the Oulton Lake area north of Fort Smith, including building construction, travel by dogteam and by boat, trapping and hunting activities. Also included are photographs of activities in the town of Fort Smith, including parades, sports and dog races. The Super 8 films document animals out on Pi's trapline, life in his camps, as well as dog races. The textual material includes documentation of fur pelts sold, expenses, as well as calendars kept on the trapline. The maps are of Pi Kennedy's trapline area north of Fort Smith and include annotations of trails and cabin sites.

The slides depict airport radio stations and former Royal Canadian Corps of Signals stations. They were created by Milton Watts during his time as a radio technician in Norman Wells, Fort Smith, Wrigley and Fort Norman (now Tulita) in the 1950s and 1960s.

Records include photographs featuring residents and activities in Fort Norman (Tulita) and Fort Smith in the early 1930s.

Records include photographs documenting Francis (Frank) Leo Buckley's work freighting supplies on his scow in the Northwest Territories between 1938-1940. Also includes photographs of the Buckley family, who lived in Yellowknife between 1938-1942 in a house built by Frank Buckley in the Peace River Flats neighbourhood.

The photographs document the construction of a winter road between Fort Providence and Inuvik in 1963-1964. The 8 mm film appears to depict a flight from Calgary to Norman Wells. The 16 mm film depicts the loading and unloading of barges through various communities along the Mackenzie River, including Hay River, Fort Simpson, Fort Wrigley and Fort Good Hope. The cartographic booklet is comprised of maps of the Mackenzie River.

The materials formerly belonged to Ross Laycock, who worked on the first winter road up the Mackenzie Valley from Fort Providence to Inuvik in the 1960s.

The film was shot in Inuvik and the Mackenzie delta region circa 1964-1967. The filmmaker is Terry F. Keim. The film features the [196? and 1967] Inuvik Muskrat Jamboree, aerial views of Inuvik, various buildings in the townsite, airplanes and the Inuvik airport, and extensive footage of drum dancers in traditional costumes. A complete shot listing is located in the accession file.

The original film [Trucking - Beyond the Fringe, was taken by John Denison and] William Kruining in 1961 [1964] during a trip with the Byers transport convoy on the winter road from Yellowknife going through Discovery Mine to Tundra Mine. Footage includes the making of the winter road, the Byers Tankard Curling Bonspiel, mine truck and airplane transportation, and [Cooper- Dessemer power generator] equipment delivery. Also includes views of Salmita Mine. The documentary is in colour with sound. <15 minutes.

Records include photographs relating to wharf construction projects in Aklavik in 1953 and 1965.

Records include photographs of Yellowknife taken in 1945. The images were taken by a member of the Operation Musk-ox Expedition undertaken by the Canadian Army in the winter of 1945. The images, consisting of negative and print formats, show various views of Yellowknife including Con Mine, the school on School Draw, the Wildcat Café, the Yellowknife Hotel, a De Havilland Hornet Moth airplane and a Fairchild 71 airplane on skis.

The films were largely shot by Otto Binder and depict life in the Beaufort Delta region, and the community of Reindeer Station in particular. Footage of travel by water, as well as reindeer herding activities feature prominently. Shots of family and community life are also within the collection.

This accession consists of two photographs taken at Great Bear Lake in 1953.

The textual records are comprised of one cocktail and lounge menu from the Ingraham Hotel. The photographs mainly depict views of Yellowknife and float planes.

The textual records recount the story of "Jim Wilkie's [Jim Wolki?] Dangerous Journey" from Walker Bay Post to Letty Harbour. The photographs depict communities such as Aklavik, and Tsiigehtchic (Arctic Red River), boats and bush planes and trading posts. The two maps detail the journey.

Records are comprised of report by J.W. McKay entitled "Truck Transportation to Yellowknife, The Economic Effect on Yellowknife".

The textual records are comprised of Hudson's Bay Company Seasonal Log Books for their steamships, including the Distributor, the Great Bear, the Hearne Lake, the Hudson, and the Mackenzie River. The log books, either Deck or Engine Room logs, tracked information such as point of departure and destination, number of days on trips, fuel and oil consumption, and crew member information. The photograph is of a listing of names (on the back of a fur/bleached beaver hide) paying tribute to Victor Ingraham, who risked his life while fighting a fire aboard the schooner 'Speed' on October 25, 1933.

This accession consists of the production "Great Slave Lake". The video was produced by Good Earth Productions Inc. in 2004.

Records include photographs related to the annual Canadian Championship Dog Derby, the spring dogsledding race held in conjunction with Caribou Carnival in Yellowknife, and the Matt Murphy trophy, the prize awarded to the winner. The photographs depict sled dogs in racing scenes, fans and dogs preparing for the start of the race, a musher holding a handful of awards, and the trophy itself.

Records date from 1968 to 2001 and relate to the life and death of John Denison, a pioneer in the field of ice road construction in the Northwest Territories. The records include business correspondence as well as records relating to his memorial service.
