The three films document movement on the Mackenzie River, as well as activities in the Beaufort Delta and in Tsiigehtchic (then Arctic Red River). Footage includes airplanes, boats, maktak drying, pingos, sled dogs, fishing, creating stick fish, sawing ice, running dog teams, spring break up, the NWT Mace, and the transportation of a dead body (not available online).
Included are images of communities; buildings; indigenous animals; landmarks; Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line sites; people; special events; Anglican and Catholic Missions; schools; Dene and Inuit involved in traditional activities; and landscapes. The images would have been used in government publications and displays.
Records include photocopies of three discussion papers/reports produced by different consulting firms. They include "Northern Mineral Strategy - A Discussion Paper," by Chamberlin/Reid; "Study on Different Modes of Transportation for Resupply in the Western Arctic," by Peter A. Seage, an independent consultant and expeditor from Inuvik, March 1980; and "Imperial Oil Ltd., Drilling Plans in Davis Strait," produced by Smith, Weisbeck and Associates and presented to the Northwest Territories Standing Committee on Resource Management on October 26, 1977.

Mathers, circa 1901, the Ingraham hotel, 1947, reindeer at Richard Island and a rock inscribed "S. Hearne, July 1767."

Records document Beryl Gillespie's work with the Mooseskin Boat project. The textual records are comprised of an account of the Mooseskin Boat project as it was observed by Beryl Gillespie. The photographs document the Mooseskin Boat project, including the preparation of the moosehide, boat construction and campsite activities. There are also images of the boat as it travelled down the Keele River, and of George Pelissey and Madeline Karkagie who worked on the project. In addition, there are several images of the mountains near Tulita (Fort Norman).
Records are comprised of copies of speeches made by cabinet ministers including Tagak Curley (Dept. of Economic Development and Tourism), Nellie Cournoyea (Dept. of Renewable Resources), Nick Sibbeston (Government Leader) and Dennis Patterson (Dept. of Education).

The pictures were taken on September 20, 1974 by Henry G. Cook for the Historical Advisory Board, as part of an inventory of Faille's effects.

There are also records of DOT submissions regarding the NWT Public Service Vehicles Act, the National Transportation Agency Review Commission and the Royal Commission on National Passenger Transportation are also included. This accession also includes Deputy Minister briefing books for Main Estimates and the Standing Committee on Finance, as well as Briefing Notes and Options Papers. As well, agreements relating to the devolution of Arctic 'A' airports (Yellowknife, Hay River, Norman Wells, Inuvik, Fort Smith, Fort Simpson, Cambridge Bay, Iqaluit and Resolute) to the department, and an organizational review relating to the transfer of responsibilities are also included in this accession.

Records include briefing notes, presentation slides, status reports, memoranda of understanding, decision paper, schedules and agendas, speaking notes, summary of legislative amendments, draft bills, drafting instructions, legislative proposal and assessment report, correspondence, and financial records.
Records contain correspondence between the Department of Transportation with Aboriginal Affairs and Justice, discussion and decision papers, briefing notes, draft access agreements, and proposed agreement amendments concerning the negotiation between the Department of Transportation and Tulita District Land Corporation for access to Tulita lands for construction of a bridge over Canyon Creek and realignment of a highway.

Department of Transportation (1989-2017)The textual records consist of two certificates of membership in the Polar Bear Chapter, Order of Arctic Adventurers, for having flown a radio controlled model airplane across the Arctic Circle. The images depict a Commanche 250 model airplane, David Johnson, his wife Gladys and their dog Joc.
The videocassettes consist of "Birch Bark Baskets" (English version) 21 min.; "Making a Birch Sled" (Slavey version) 21 min.; and "The Spruce Canoe" (English version) 21 min. The canoe was built by Johnny Klondike. The videos were filmed by Francine Betthale, produced by the Fort Liard Band Council, and funded by the GNWT Department of Culture and Communications and Dene Nation.
