This accession consists of one bound folding map with annotations, entitled "Map of the Northwest Territories", published by the government of Canada, Department of the Interior, National Resources Intelligence Service. The annotations consist of the locations for a variety of northern posts, including Hudson's Bay Company posts and outposts, R.C.M.P. posts, Northern Traders Limited posts, Reveillon Freres posts, Sabellum Trading Company posts and free trader posts.

This accession consists of one VHS videocassette entitled Lord of the Nahanni - Memorial to Poole Field. Field Poole (1880-1948) was a former Royal Northwest Mounted Police officer who lived for many years in the Ross River and Nahanni River area and worked as a trader and prospector. The video was produced by the Albert Faille Wilderness League and was written and directed by Dr. Norman Kagan of Minnesota.

The sound recording documents an interview with Charles Reiach. The recording includes a narration of a film donated to the NWT Archives by Charles Reiach and his experiences as an HBC trader from 1926-1936.

This fonds consists of 69 black and white photographs that were either taken, or collected, by Reverend T.J. Marsh between 1893 and 1907. There is also a photocopy of a monograph entitled "Historical Sketch of the Origin and Work of the Hay River Mission, Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories." Most of the images are stored in two photograph albums. The first album contains images taken by Reverend Marsh between 1893 and 1907. The second album contains photographs taken by C.W. Mathers, a professional photographer from Edmonton, who toured the Mackenzie River communities in 1901. There are also some loose images taken by Reverend Marsh. The images depict traditional Dene and Inuit lifestyles in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Subjects include mooseskin boats, scows, dog teams, skin tents and kayaks. Many of the images document the development of St. Peter's Anglican Mission at Hay River. There are photographs of the church, boarding school, mission staff and the students who attended the school. A number of images depict Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) posts and the steamers and scows that were used by the Hudson's Bay Company to transport goods in the north. Locations include Fort Good Hope, Fort McPherson, Fort Norman, Fort Providence, Fort Simpson, Hay River and Peel River. The records have been arranged into three series: Series I - Reverend T.J. Marsh photograph album; Series II - C.W. Mathers album; Series III - Reverend T.J. Marsh.

The sound recording contains an interview conducted by Rex Terpening with Charles Reiach, a trader who worked for the Hudson's Bay Company and lived in the Northwest Territories in the late 1920s and 1930s. Topics discussed include the use of schooners on the Mackenzie River, the village of Kittiagsauit, Baille Island, whaling, the salvage operation for the "James," a journey from Herschel Island in 1934, and a recounting of a legend that involved a massacre that occurred at Arctic Red River.

This fonds consists of 320 photographic prints taken by Paul Williamson during his years in both Portage La Loche (Saskatchewan) and Yellowknife. Many photos have been removed from photo albums created by Paul Williamson. The fonds has been divided into three series: 1) La Loche, Saskatchewan; 2) Yellowknife; 3) Miscellaneous. The photographs of Yellowknife include views of: the Hudson's Bay Company store; gold mine operations; sporting activities including hockey, baseball and skiing; aircraft; the Yellowknife River and scenery around Yellowknife. There are also aerial views and images of the Hudson's Bay Company post in Hay River.

This fonds consists of approximately 10 cm of textual material containing five diaries or journals and one trade ledger belonging to Ole Andreasen, who was a trader at Shingle Point in the Richardson Islands. The dairies date from June 1931 to November 1935. The diary entries include detailed observations about the weather, daily activities and visitors to the Shingle Point post. The trade ledger lists the prices and goods purchased from the trading post. In addition, there are typewritten transcripts of the diaries.

The material is comprised of one ledger of fur sales (1939-1969) labeled "Fur for disposal on behalf of Department of Mines and Resources," one list of Trading Post and Outpost Licenses (1962-1977) and a list of "Trading Posts Northwest Territories, July 1, 1961" listing license numbers, names of applicants, location of posts and descriptions marked with handwritten amendments. The names and locations of stores and co-operatives are also included in the listing of Trading Posts.

This fonds consists of approximately 1.4 m of textual material and 7 photographs. The textual material is made up of 5 bound Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) journals and one carbon copy of a journal, Seasonal Log books for their steamships. The journals are from the following HBC posts: King William Land, September 24, 1932 to November 10, 1933; Fort Hearne, August 14, 1930 to March 31, 1933; Fort Hearne, March 7, 1934 to January 5, 1935; Tree River, June 1, 1925 to May 31, 1926; and King William Land, June 1, 1930 to November 29, 1931. The carbon copy journal is for King William Land, and covers the period September 12, 1925 to April 30, 1940, except for the period covered by the above bound journals of that post. The Tree River journal was recorded by A. A. Carroll and Ray Ross. The steamship logs are either Deck or Engine Room logs for the Distributor, the Great Bear, the Hearne Lake, the Hudson, and the Mackenzie River. The photographs are of the participants of a Hudson's Bay Fur Trade Conferences of 1931, 1933 and 1937 held in Winnipeg and a list of names paying tribute to Victor Ingraham.

The textual records consist of transcripts of entries from Hudson's Bay Company fort journals from the 1800s that were compiled and transcribed by Beryl Gillespie and annotated by June Helm, as well as a copy of the June Helm paper "Matonobee's Map" along with correspondence received by Helm related to the article. The photographs date from 1952-1993 and include images of Teresa Carterette in Jean Marie River [1952], scenes from Rae (Behchokǫ̀) [1962 and 1967], Vital Thomas [1983], June Helm and Eunice Carney in Iowa City [1986], and Helene Yambi in Whatı̀ [1993].

Records are comprised of ten hard cover journals containing transcriptions dated between the 1700s and 1800s. These transcriptions were taken from Hudson Bay Company journals that are held in the Hudson Bay Company Archives. The transcriptions document excerpts from Hudson's Bay Company Post Journals from Fort Good Hope, Fort Norman, Fort Liard, Fort Simpson, Great Slave Lake Post, Reindeer Lake, McLeod Lake, Chipewyan Lake, Fort Resolution, Manchester House, Green Lake, Granville House, Fort Wedderburn, Lac La Ronge, Norway House, Fort Chipewyan, York Factory, Fort Churchill and Peels River. In addition, there are district reports and accounting reports from many of these posts.

The fonds consists of approximately 800 black and white prints and cellulose nitrate negatives. The images are contained in two photo albums and two corresponding negative albums. It also includes two file folders of photographs and a number of framed prints. The images depict Hudson's Bay Company buildings and personnel at Fort Collinson, Gjoa Haven and Tuktoyaktuk. The textual material consists of Charles Rowan's correspondence from his time at Fort Collinson, particularly concerning his use of "Barneys" Tobacco, a letter of reference from Bishop Fleming and two reports on traveling time in the arctic, particularly to and from Cambridge Bay. Furthermore, there are two notebooks that were used as "Eskimo-English" and "English-Eskimo" dictionaries. The material dates between 1935-1955.
