This fonds consists of photocopies of five statements of account for the Canalaska Trading Company (Limited) issued to Stephen Angulalik. The original items are dated July 30, 1938 and August 3, 1938. The statements list quantity, types and prices of materials purchased.

This fonds consists of one ledger of 'Indian Accounts' kept by A.N. Blake. The ledger documents the accounts of native traders in the Fort McPherson area.

This fonds consists of 271 photographs, 6 audio reels, 3 sound cassettes and 2 cm of textual material. The photographs were taken and collected by the Buffum Family and depict the covers or interior images of personalized Christmas cards from bush pilots and other people who stayed with the Buffum family. The textual material is made up of the diary of Louise Buffum dated from 1939 to 1945. The sound recordings contain an interview conducted by the Territorial Archivist, David Rudkin with Lyn Orchuk in 1985.

This fonds consists of 23 photographs, 7 cm of textual material and 1 cartoon-sketch of Wally Firth. The textual material includes one Hudson's Bay Company ledger listing financial transactions between 1901-1902 from the post at Fort McPherson, correspondence written by William Firth when he worked for the Hudson's Bay Company, a short biography of John Firth as well as newsletters and letters written by Wally Firth when he was a Member of Parliament. The photographic material consists of 26 photographic prints, predominantly copies made from cellulose nitrate negatives.

This fonds consists of approximately 1.4 m of textual material and 7 photographs. The textual material is made up of 5 bound Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) journals and one carbon copy of a journal, Seasonal Log books for their steamships. The journals are from the following HBC posts: King William Land, September 24, 1932 to November 10, 1933; Fort Hearne, August 14, 1930 to March 31, 1933; Fort Hearne, March 7, 1934 to January 5, 1935; Tree River, June 1, 1925 to May 31, 1926; and King William Land, June 1, 1930 to November 29, 1931. The carbon copy journal is for King William Land, and covers the period September 12, 1925 to April 30, 1940, except for the period covered by the above bound journals of that post. The Tree River journal was recorded by A. A. Carroll and Ray Ross. The steamship logs are either Deck or Engine Room logs for the Distributor, the Great Bear, the Hearne Lake, the Hudson, and the Mackenzie River. The photographs are of the participants of a Hudson's Bay Fur Trade Conferences of 1931, 1933 and 1937 held in Winnipeg and a list of names paying tribute to Victor Ingraham.

This fonds consists of approximately 70 cm of textual material, 3 maps and 211 photographs, produced or accumulated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from 1910 to 1980.

Many of the textual records are from the Arctic Red River detachment and date from 1925 to 1954. These include: patrol diaries (1927-1953, 1944-1948 missing); patrol reports (1926-1934); some annual reports (1927-1931); financial records (1926-1943); requisitions (1926-1954, with gaps); shipping invoices (1929-1933); ledgers; fur export tax receipts and returns (1929-1943); hunting and trapping permits and returns (1926-1943); game licenses (1926-1942); trading post permits (1929-1942); radio receiving license receipts and returns (1927-1953); crown timber returns (1926-1943); liquor permits (1929-1939); income tax returns (1929-1942); marriage licenses (1951-1953); vital statistics records (1926-1943); some hunting and trapping records pertaining to the Yukon (1929-1954); administrative records such as instructions of various kinds (192?-1950); correspondence (1926-1953); a file on the administration of estates (1926-1948); and two maps containing hunting and trapping information.

There is also a disc listing from 1969 related to the Inuvik region.

The photographs in this fonds cover a variety of subjects and locations, and were taken between 1910 to 1973. They include photographs of ceremonies and events: such as an RCMP centenary banquet held in Pine Point; an RCMP band tour; the dedication of a plaque on the Henry Larsen Building (RCMP detachment) in Yellowknife; Governor General George Vanier's 1961 tour in the Northwest Territories; and the search for, and burial of the members of the RCMP Dawson Patrol (the Lost Patrol).

Additional subjects depicted are the RCMP detachments and personnel across the north, Hudson's Bay Company buildings and employees, Anglican and Catholic missions, residents of the various communities across the Northwest Territories and the Flat River Patrol of the South Nahanni.

The map, (National Topographic System Sheet 106 M) of Fort McPherson, is annotated with the location where the Dawson Patrol died in 1911 and the location where Albert Johnson, the Mad Trapper, killed an RCMP constable.

This series documents the first four decades of J.I. Glick's life, before he and Sadie Glick moved to Yellowknife. Records relate to his involvement in the mining and fur trade in Ontario, his trials and incarceration, correspondence, World War II service records, return to civilian life and preparation to move to Yellowknife.

This fonds consists of a typescript diary of Richard Bonnycastle's 1968 journey by plane from Fort Garry (Manitoba) through Alberta and down the Mackenzie River and back to Fort Garry. The narrative includes references to the trips he made while he was district manager for the Hudson's Bay Company. Places he visited on his journey included Fort Smith, Yellowknife, Fort Simpson, Norman Wells, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk and Aklavik.

This accession consists of one copy of "An Act to Make Further Provision for the Regulation of the Trade with the Indians, and for the Administration of Justice in the North-Western Territories of America", Bill 104, session 2 (House of Commons, 1 August 1859).

Records relating to fisheries and wildlife management include those on the subjects of disease, endangered species, land use, predator control, trapping, hunting, fur production and harvesting data, hunting and trapping associations, environmental protection, land claims, trapper taxation, trapping standards, animal sightings, game management reports, registered trapping areas, pipelines, sport fishing and lake stocking, conservation education, national parks, territorial parks, preserves, sanctuaries and refuges. Records also include manuals, permits, licenses, newsletters, annual reports, strategic plans, and mandate documents relating to the operation of the Division. The wildlife management records include studies or records relating to falcons, gyrfalcons, geese, duck, swans, bears, bison, beaver, sheep, caribou, fox, reindeer, wolf, muskoxen, muskrat, marten, mink, wolverine, moose, hare, and arachnids (spiders). Policies and programs covered by this accession include the Guiding and Outfitting Policy, Community Freezer Program, Fur Program, Biodiversity Working Group, Fire Management Policy, Firearm Safety Instructor Course Program, Bathurst Management Planning Committee, and the Trapper Treeline Program. There are records relating to Trapper Training, Harvesters Assistance, Trapper Compensation, and interaction with COSEWIC, and the Fish and Wildlife Service Policy. Each region of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut is represented.

The textual records include an English transcript of interviews conducted with Whati elders in 2001 on the subject of the fur trade. The sound recording, entitled 'Trading Among the Dogrib People', contains the interviews, which were conducted in Tlicho (Dogrib). Speakers include Alexis Flunki, Mary Madeleine Nitsiza, Jimmy Rabesca, and Louis Simpson. Topics discussed include trading with the Hudson's Bay Company, trapping, running errands, and the role of women in the fur trade.

Records date from 1987-1996 and consist of fur dealer records and fur dealer return forms that were issued by the department. The fur dealer records include information such as the name of the trapper, license number, species, and the quantity and price received for the fur. The fur dealer returns also include the trappers name, license number, species, price, quantity and name of buyer. Records also include summary reports of community and regional fur returns.

Records include files related to fur pricing, the Arctic Wildlife Series and management plans for caribou and bison.

This accession consists of trapping records from the Fur Licencing System of the Department of Renewable Resources. The files are all for the 1989 licence year and are divided by community, including Lutselk'e, Hay River, Kakisa Lake, Fort Resolution, and Fort Providence. There are pages for each trapper showing name, settlement number, licence number, fur types, quantity and price, and grants and subsidies. Overall pages showing community totals and some cheque requisitions for incentive grants are also included.

This accession consists of records created by the federal Northern Administration Branch. The records include four ledgers of documenting the fur and game take and value for registered trapping areas in the communities of Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Fort Simpson, Fort Liard, Fort Norman (Tulita), Hay River, Fort Resolution, Fort Smith, Arctic Red River (Tsiigehtchic), and Fort Good Hope from 1950-1958, as well as correspondence, statistics and a list of successful trappers from 1975, and a Renewable Resources Firearms Awareness badge.
