The sound recordings include (:0001) C. M. "Bud" Drury (Office of the Special Representative for Constitutional Development in the Northwest Territories) press conference, 19 Dec. 1977, Cairns was the reporter, and (:0002) an election campaign interview Cairns conducted with George Erasmus on 5 May 1979. The textual records consist of two items from the records of the Yellowknife Daycare Association.

The textual records are comprised of one certificate, recording the establishment of the Council of the Order of St. John for the Northwest Territories on June 24, 1972, signed on the verso by some founding members; a 1979 Ball Programme for the NWT Council for the Order of St. John from November 24, 1979; and an oversized document describing the first animals at L.D. Livingstone's Polar Sea Dairy Farm in Aklavik. The photographs document the founding members of the NWT Council of St. John Ambulance, and the first induction of members to the Order of St. John. The sound recording is an LP record of 'Two Hands and For Ever: a new musical about Old Yellowknife', produced in 1978.

The textual records consists of one letter describing the audiocassette. Most of the photographs date from between 1963 and 1978, although there is one from 1932 and several from 1993. The photographs document the Reverend Ben S. Hall's life in Hay River from 1963-1970, as well as a 1978 Boy Scouting trip to Coppermine and Pine Point. They also depict images of public events, the local "Indian village," aircraft, clergy, and Yellowknife. The audio cassette narrates the series of colour slides of the Boy Scout trip to Coppermine and Pine Point.
