Pappas, GeorgeThe photographs (227 colour slides and 7 b&w negatives) document Pi's life on his trapline around the Oulton Lake area north of Fort Smith, including building construction, travel by dogteam and by boat, trapping and hunting activities. Also included are photographs of activities in the town of Fort Smith, including parades, sports and dog races. The Super 8 films document animals out on Pi's trapline, life in his camps, as well as dog races. The textual material includes documentation of fur pelts sold, expenses, as well as calendars kept on the trapline. The maps are of Pi Kennedy's trapline area north of Fort Smith and include annotations of trails and cabin sites.

Narrated footage then focuses on gold milling processes including crushing and grinding the ore, classification, cyanidation, filtering and precipitation. Various elements of pulp balance measuring, solution tests, etc to determine if the water vs solids balance was correct. There is also extensive footage of gold assaying in the assay office. Processes filmed include bucking of samples, splitting, sieving, and atomic absorption spectrometry using flame atomizer to determine the gold assay. The film also features an original song about Salmita Mine written and performed by Jerry Snow.

The photographs document the construction of a winter road between Fort Providence and Inuvik in 1963-1964. The 8 mm film appears to depict a flight from Calgary to Norman Wells. The 16 mm film depicts the loading and unloading of barges through various communities along the Mackenzie River, including Hay River, Fort Simpson, Fort Wrigley and Fort Good Hope. The cartographic booklet is comprised of maps of the Mackenzie River.
The materials formerly belonged to Ross Laycock, who worked on the first winter road up the Mackenzie Valley from Fort Providence to Inuvik in the 1960s.

The records document an oral traditions project carried out by Jonas Adam on behalf of the Salt River First Nation in 1996, funded via the Oral Traditions funding program. The textual records consist of two copies of a report entitled Memories To Last. It includes photocopies of pictures, and what appear to be transcripts of the interviews with six Salt River First Nation elders: Mary Rose Benwell, Napoleon (Abraham) Nasgadhe, Philip Cheezie, Mary Jane Bruno (Taylor), Wilfred Beaulieu, and Oliver Beaulieu.
