This fonds consists of 4 cm of textual material, 10 sound CDs, 8 DAT audio cassettes, 8 sound cassettes and 19 colour slides. The textual material is made up of transcripts of the interviews conducted by David Pelly for the Wager Bay Oral History Project, the final report for the Mount Pelly Territorial Park Oral History Project--Uvayok, and interviews from Sanikiluaq. The eight DAT audiocassettes contain copies of the sound cassette interviews with elders in Cambridge Bay that were undertaken for the Mount Pelly Territorial Park Project and ten compact discs contain interviews with elders in Sanikiluaq about the traditional knowledge of seals. Also included in this fonds are 19 colour slides of the people interviewed by David Pelly for the Wager Bay Oral History Project.

The videocassette consists of "The City of Yellowknife", part of the series "Sketches of Our Town." The video, hosted and narrated by Harvey Kirck, was filmed in the fall of 1991. It depicts Yellowknife past and present, and includes archival material, and interviews with residents Michael Borden, Dave Lovell, Barb Cameron, Walt Humphries and pilot Jim McAvoy.

This accession consists of a video of what appears to be a cultural program held in Lutselk'e in 1991 and possibly in the years following, up to 1994. The video features Chipewyan children being instructed in various activities on the land such as mending fish nets, tanning hides, and butchering caribou. The 'Adopt An Elder' portion of the video may have been a form of mentorship program.

Records are comprised of an unpublished manuscript by Margaret Scott called "Treasures of the North". It describes the author's three years spent in the north, 1941-1944, first at Ptarmigan Mine, then Whitehorse and Prince Rupert. The section on Ptarmigan mine (approximately 26 pages) provides anecdotal account of her trip to Yellowknife, including her wedding ceremony, and the year she spent at Ptarmigan mine where her husband was an employee of Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company.

The videos consist of the production "History in the Making: The NWT Legislative Assembly." Each videocassette contains the production in a different language including: English (:0001), Tłı̨chǫ (Dogrib :0002), Dëne Sųłıné (Chipewyan :0003), Dene Zhatıé (South Slavey :0004), French (:0005), Dene Kǝdǝ́ (North Slavey :0006) and Inuktitut (:0007). The program, which is approximately 10 minutes in length, was produced by Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) in 1990. The production was commissioned by the Management and Services Board of the 11th Legislative Assembly, and traces the political development in the NWT, including the development of the NWT Council and the Legislative Assembly. The production incorporates archival photographs and moving images from the Northwest Territories, as well as footage of Legislative Assembly sessions from the 1980s. Fran Hurcomb wrote the script for the production, and archival material was provided by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Northern Service, Canadian Museum of Civilization, Crawley Films, Library Archives Canada and the NWT Archives. Images depict the artists while carving and drawing, and finished works.

This accession consists of 0.9 cm of textual records and 29 audio cassettes created by Alestine Andre during her Arctic Red River (Tsiigehtchic) Oral History Project in Tsiigehtchic in 1989-1990. The goal of the project was to collect information on the traditional lifestyle and cultural beliefs of the Gwichya Gwich'in in Tsiigehtchic. The textual records document the project's administration, and include a final report and a transcript. The audio cassettes include interviews conducted on various dates with five Elders who agreed to participate in the project: Hyacinthe Andre, Andre Jerome, Joan Nazon, Annie Norbert, and Nap Norbert.

This fonds consists of 14 audio cassettes and 2 VHS videocassettes containing interviews with elders that resulted from the Snare Lake Education Committee's efforts to gather information for a handbook on cultural programming for use in the school. The elders interviewed during February 1992 were: Harry Kodzin, Margaret Lafferty, Marie Simpson, Jimmy Kodzin, Rosa Fish, Celine Wanazah, Rosa Pea'a, Alexis Arrowmaker, Madeline Judas, Louis Whane, Joe Pea'a, Roger Arrowmaker, Leonard Fish, Charlie Eyakfwo and Joe Dryneck. Activities and topics discussed include: Easter in the past, survival in the bush, making camp, Tlicho (Dogrib) food preparation, Tlicho (Dogrib) social life and customs, hunting and butchering caribou, traditional tools and constructing a drum. Some interviews with John Pea'a on cultural inclusion and religious instruction were conducted in 1989 and collected for this project.

It is 64 pages in length and was compiled by Kevin O'Reilly and submitted to the spring stamp show in Edmonton, 1989. The exhibit contains covers and postcards from 1898 to 1985, relating to mining in the Northwest Territories. Text accompanies each item.

This fonds contains records gathered by John U. Bayly in his role as Inquiry Counsel for the Bourassa Inquiry. The Inquiry was conducted by Madam Justice Carole Conrad of Alberta and held in Yellowknife. The proceedings began on March 26, 1990 and ended with Madam Conrad's findings issued on September 28, 1990. The records consist of copies of preliminary proceedings, transcripts of the hearings, exhibits including one videocassette and one audio cassette of the press conference and public meeting held by GNWT Justice Minister Michael Ballantyne on Dec. 21, 1989. In addition, there are files containing submissions, letters of complaint, authorities, the inquiry findings and press clippings.
