This item consists of one tape with two sides.

Side A is a recording from the CBC of a political speech for the 1965 federal election. R.J. “Bud” Orange discusses his vision for the North to encourage industry, employment, and opportunity. The recording cuts off as speaker speaks in support of Orange in an Indigenous language, before moving to the Fort Smith regional news, and then cutting between another broadcast, before returning to another political speech by Franklin Foley (Liberal candidate for Meadow Lake, Sask.) regarding uranium, the mining industry, and Indigenous education. Tape runs about 19 minutes, 50 seconds.

Side B is another recording of the Northern Service by the CBC. Topics include news and sports. Audio cuts out around the 5 minute mark and the 8:30 mark, before cutting back to CBC news. Tape runs 12 minutes, 53 seconds.
