Records are comprised of oversized ledgers containing Hunting and Trapping Reports and Fur Export Tax Reports from across the Northwest Territories. The records indicate big game harvest, fur trade activities and where furs were exported. The ledgers include trading, hunting and trapping returns from Wood Buffalo Park, Franklin District, Keewatin District and the Mackenzie District.

Records consist of correspondence, reports by regional and community officers, minutes, field project reports, report forms recording information on polar bear and musk-ox kills and fish landings. The records relate to a variety of activities such as hunting, trapping, enforcement, animal studies and fisheries. The records show evidence of the division's activities, programs delivered, and the impact the division's policies may have had on the residents of the Northwest Territories. Reports from the administrative regions of the Government of the Northwest Territories have been kept in an effort to document regional activities and responses.

The photographs span 196-? to 1979 but the majority of the photographs date from 1977-1979. Many were taken in the Gwich’in Settlement Area on the Mackenzie and Peel Rivers, spanning camps upriver of Tsiigehtchic (Arctic Red River), and down towards Aklavik, and including the communities of Tsiigehtchic, Fort McPherson, Aklavik and Inuvik. These photographs document life on the land, fur trapping, winter and summer camps, and fishing camps of the Gwich'in. In addition there are many portraits, family photographs, transportation and recreation photographs. Photographs of Inuvik include a large series documenting the 1979 Northern Games, while photographs of Yellowknife include community events and music concerts. A series of photographs document a wedding outside of Lutselk’e (Snowdrift). The textual material includes a project description of Jerome's proposed book 'Portraits and History of the Dene Elders of the NWT' as well as handwritten and typewritten notes on the project, and correspondence.

Records consist of one unpublished paper "Indian Tribal Courts in the United States: A Model for Canada?" The paper is 66 pages long, and was produced for delivery at the Native Law Centre. It was written by B.W. Morse, a professor at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 1979.

Much of the accession is currently unidentified. Some of the identified reels of film concern events in the Northwest Territories, such as the Commissioner's tour of the central arctic, 1970 Arctic Winter Games, Caribou Carnival in Yellowknife, Camp Unity and a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) production on whaling in the north.

Records were managed as part of the government's Central Registry system. Records relate to the development and management of hamlets, towns and communities across the Northwest Territories. The records include details on services such as water and sanitation as provided and managed by the Department of Local Government. Additionally, there are files related to the NWT Municipalities Association and departmental policies and initiatives.

Records include settlement files and files relating to departmental administration from the Directorate series (60 Block); files relating to camps and lodges from the Tourism series (61 Block); files relating to the operations of co-ops and arts and crafts projects, from the Economic and Industrial series (62 Block); and files documenting applications to the Eskimo Loan Fund from the Loans and Grants series (69 block). The bulk of the records concern the Keewatin region. These records were originally part of the Central Registry system and primarily administered by the Department of Industry and Development. The majority of the records were created by the Department of Industry and Development (1967-1972) and the Department of Economic Development (1973-1976), with the exception of the Eskimo Loan Fund files which were created by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (1977-1995).

This accession consists of a photocopy of the Appendix to J. Ellestad-Sayed's "Nutrient Analyses of Non-Commercial Foods Eaten by Canadian Inuit and Indians." This Appendix describes the objectives, background, and design of a proposed project to determine the nutrient value of indigenous foods as prepared traditionally.

Records are from the Central Registry system, Economic and Industrial Series (62 Block) and include files relating to Co-operatives, Arts and Crafts, Business Development, Foods, Settlements, Project Operations, Companies, Forestry, Marketing, Agricultural and Industrial Development and Financial Planning.

Included among the files is information concerning the development of a tourism strategy for the Northwest Territories, pamphlets outlining fishing and hunting regulations, reports on Commissioners' tours, general information about the communities and attractions in the Northwest Territories. The records were produced by the Government of the Northwest Territories, the federal government, outfitters, tour operators and lodges concerned with promoting travel in the Northwest Territories.

Records include files from the Central Registry system, under the Loans and Grants series (69 Block). Records relate to the Small Business Loan Fund, Eskimo Loan Fund, Indian Loan Fund, Assistance to Fisherman Policy and Correspondence, Tourism Development Grants and Promotion Grants.

The images depict human impacts on the landscape, such as seismic lines, mine sites, and dams, as well as communities including Yellowknife, Rae (Behchoko), Fort Providence, Hay River, Fort Smith, Fort Resolution, Fort Simpson, Norman Wells, Fort Norman (Tulita), and Inuvik. They were taken by Ken Taylor while he was working on a land use mapping project for Environment Canada.

These records provide information on the development and operations of Con Mine, and to a lesser degree, other mines operated by Cominco including Pine Point Mine, a lead and zinc mine at Pine Point, NWT, and Box Mine, a gold mine at Goldfields near Uranium City in northern Saskatchewan.

The textual records have been divided into 14 series and include general administration records, personnel records, legal records, financial records, records of development at Pine Point, records from the office of the mine superintendent, records from the office of the mine engineer, records from the office of the geologist, health and safety records, and the records of the Con Athletic Association. The company records consist of personnel files, health and safety records, financial records, mill logbooks, and assay test data statistics. Also included are personal files of A.J. Richardson and records of the Con Athletic Association.

The photographs come from a 1950 report produced by the Northern Transportation Company (NTCL) and document Northern Transportation Company Ltd. (NTCL) 'Radium' line vessels, barges and transportation activities at Waterways, Bell Rock and in the Great Bear Lake Region.

The files were part of the Central Registry and include records from the Directorate and School Programs series. Records include correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes regarding departmental organization and staffing, curriculum development, teacher training, conferences, local education advisory boards, Continuing and Special Education programs, school policy, schools and residences and Superintendent of Education files for the regions, as well as general chrono correspondence files from the Directorate.

The records include sound recordings of interviews with 36 individuals, relating to the history of the Nahanni. The textual material is comprised of the transcripts of the sound recordings. In some cases up to three copies of the transcripts existed: a first draft; an edited draft; and a final transcript, edited for publication. Where extant, only the final transcript has been retained. A few of the interviews have not been transcribed. Many of the transcripts include an introduction prepared by Addison, which provides background information on the person interviewed. In addition, there is information on the Nahanni History project, such as reports and correspondence. The 6 maps are appended to the interview transcripts. A 1977 report on the project describes the methodology, itinerary, and provides a list of people contacted and interviewed.

The files were part of the Central Registry and include correspondence, publications, policies and procedures relating to school programs, as well as files about curriculum development, teacher evaluations, conferences and school services.

Please note that references about the Inuit are referred with the term, "Eskimo."

The records include files from the Research and Evaluation Division series (64 Block) of the Central Registry filing system and include economic and statistical information, reports, studies and proposals, and committee records.

The majority of the records were created by the Continuing and Special Education division and include records relating to adult education centres and programs, vocational programs and on-the-job training programs, post-secondary education, and education for children with disabilities. Records also include files from the Curriculum Services and Administrative Services divisions.

The textual records consist of two certificates of membership in the Polar Bear Chapter, Order of Arctic Adventurers, for having flown a radio controlled model airplane across the Arctic Circle. The images depict a Commanche 250 model airplane, David Johnson, his wife Gladys and their dog Joc.

Records primarily include Inuit disc lists, Project Surname lists, and general lists of community members from Baker Lake, Eskimo Point (Arviat), Akudlik, Whale Cove, Sanikiluaq, Repulse Bay (Naujaat), Rankin Inlet, Coral Harbour, and Chesterfield Inlet. Records also include guidelines, correspondence, and memos related to social assistance appeal procedures, correspondence and requests for a group home in Rankin Inlet, and correspondence and service contracts of the repatriation agent for the Keewatin region.
