Fort McPherson, the most northerly post of the HBCo. It is on Peel River, within the Arctic Circle, 2000 miles north of Edmonton. The midnight sun shines here for about two weeks. The Ramparts - Mackenzie River. The river here is only about one third its usual width, but is 300 feet deep, it is forced between two great perpendicular stretches of sandstone rock, from 180 to 300 feet high and continues so for about one mile when it again widens out.
