This file consists of one journal comprised of 21 black and white photographs (N-2002-005: 0218 to 0238) and accompanying narrative dated 1924. The journal describes a six-week surveying trip where Norman Robinson was hired to guide a Dominion Land Survey team from Ottawa led by Mr. [John] Russell. The team traveled by dogsled from Fort Smith to Fort Resolution and across Great Slave Lake to Fort Rae and were stranded on Hardisty Island during break-up. They were rescued by a Mr. Blanchet, another Land Surveyor. In addition, there is a short account of a summer survey expedition to map Artillery, Clinton, Colden, Aylmer and McKay Lakes in the Barren Lands at the east end of Great Slave Lake. The photographs primarily document travel by dog team and winter camping activities.

27 typewritten pages of translated notes by Gaston Carriere, o.m.i. on the construction of the Fort Good Hope Chapel in the 1800s. He recorded information about the history of the church and commented on the structure, decoration and architecture of the building.

The file consists of the transcript of an oral history interview with Adolph Mercredi in Yellowknife on February 4, 1977. The interviewer was Joanne Overvold.
Interview notes from 1992 Index: Adolph's father, Victor Mercredi, was born on January 20, 1885 in Fort Chipewyan. Adolph's mother, Elizabeth Mandeville, was born in 1887 in Fort Resolution. There were 9 children born to Victor and Elizabeth. Twin brothers born in 1909 or 1910, Therese born in 1912, Adolph born in 1914 in Fort Chipewyan, Norbert born in 1916, Angelina born in 1918, Agnes born in 1921, Xavier born in 1922 and another brother born in 1930 (who only lived for 1 year). Adolph's paternal grandfather, Pierre Mercredi died in 1947. His paternal grandmother died in about 1952. His maternal grandfather was Michel Mandeville. His grandmother's name was Marie Fabien Mandeville. Adolph's paternal great. grandfather was Joseph McCarthy (the Mercredi name was originally McCarty or McCarthy). His paternal great grandmother was Mary Charlotte Laliberte, from Ile.-a-la-Crosse. She spoke Cree and Chipewyan. She died from the
Spanish Flu in 1922. Adolph married Martha Mcswain. Her parents names were Louise Cardinal and Johnny Mcswain. Adolph and Martha have 5 children: Louise, Josey, Evy, Bill and Nicolas. All were born in Fort Chipewyan except Evy was born in Fort Smith.

The manuscript also features a number of related photographs. Reference to the murder of Harry Radford and George Street near Hanbury Lake.

Included in this report are 50 black and white aerial photographs of the area between Fort Simpson and Fort Liard, as well as, two maps from the Department of Mines and Resources. One of the maps shows the District of Mackenzie and the other shows the Fort Nelson-Kotcho Lake region in British Columbia.
