The textual records consist of six issues of newsletters published by the students who lived in Akaitcho Hall. There are two issues of "The Akaitcho Youth and Unity", dated November 1964 and December 1964. Also included is one issue of "Student Voice" issued on May 6, 1967. The accession also contains three issues of "Akaitcho Hi-Lites" dated September 1967[?], October 1967[?] and February 1968[?] These newsletters contain stories and articles written by the students living at Akaitcho Hall, lists of names of the students in residence, a gossip column, and reports from various school groups.

The records date from 1960-1989 and were generated by students that lived at Akaitcho Hall and attended Sir John Franklin Territorial High School. The textual records consist of Akaitcho Hall newsletters, a policy manual and guidelines for the students entering the residence, a school newspaper, a 1981 yearbook, and a program of study from Sir John Franklin High School. The photographs depict daily life, classes and activities that took place at Akaitcho Hall and Sir John Franklin High School. In addition, there are some oversize photographs of the NWT Council and Commissioners of the NWT. There is also one drawing of Akaitcho Hall. There are 12 videocassettes that contain interviews with students about their life at Akaitcho Hall and footage of daily life at the residence and at Sir John Franklin High School. The students interviewed comment about the living conditions, activities and high school experiences. In addition, there is one tape entitled "A Whole Language: A Northern Experience" that is a Yellowknife Films Production. This tape was produced for the Department of Education to promote a writing program that was used in the communities to enhance the language skills and give students a creative voice.

Records are comprised of one copy of the Akaitcho Gazette which was produced by the Akaitcho Hall Reunion Committee in 2001 to commemorate the Akaitcho Hall reunion that was held in Yellowknife from June 29, 2001 until July 1, 2001. The 32 page newspaper includes copies of photographs of the students, staff and events that took place at Akaitcho Hall between 1958 and 1994. In addition, there are stories from former students and staff about people, events and daily living at the residence.

Records are comprised of two invitations addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Jean Chretien dated March 8 and March 9, 1970 to attend an Arctic Winter Games function at the highrise (Fraser Tower) in Yellowknife. The first reception was in honour of John Munro. The second, for then Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. The accession also includes an Armed Forces Day program dating from 1972.

The textual records consist of a typewritten handbook entitled 'Material for Minister's Handbook' dated December 1965. The handbook appears to have belonged to Alexander Stevenson and contains information about the organization of the Northern Administration Branch. The handbook provides an overview about the activities of the Finance and Management Advisory Division, Education Division, Engineering Division, Industrial Division, Territorial Division and Welfare Division and includes budgetary information for each division. In addition, there is a copy of the NWT Council Tour, Vol. II (February 29 to March 8, 1968) marked "Alex Stevenson." The material lists all members of the Territorial Council, as well as biographical information about each member. In addition, there are two maps that were originally located in the NWT Council Tour book. One map shows the Territorial Evolution of Canada. It was produced by the Geographical Branch, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. The other map was produced by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Resource Management Division, and shows Mineral Exploration and Mining sites in the Northwest Territories and Yukon Territory. All other Stevenson Accessions transferred to Nunavut.

This accession consists of one photocopy of the typescript version of Alfred E. Preble's journal of his trip from Athabasca Landing to Fort Wrigley back to Athabasca Landing. Included in the journal are descriptions of the flora and fauna observed and collected. There are also descriptions of Fort Resolution, Hay River, Fort Simpson and people he met during the journey. Also included are some photocopies of black and white photos taken by Preble during this trip.

Records consist of one report by Canon Alfred J. Vale on his winter trip from Hay River to Fort Resolution in 1919. Also included is a handwritten manuscript entitled "Memoranda of the Mission to the Mackenzie River Eskimo, 1895-1929." The manuscript is authored by Archdeacon C.E. Whittaker, who writes the intended goal of the manuscript is to document the "origin, progress and result" of the Anglican mission in the Mackenzie Delta and the extent of the Diocese boundaries in the Northwest Territories. It discusses the history of Anglican missions along the Mackenzie River including Fort Simpson, Fort McPherson, Aklavik, Herschel Island and missions in the Mackenzie Delta region. Also documented in the text are the arrivals and departures of various missionaries.

The textual records include expedition journals and notes of Wesley Bliss, Joseph Maloney, Douglas Osborne, Thomas Cain, and [Alden?] Hayes. The photographs include images of archaeological sites and the communities of Fort Good Hope, Shingle Point (Yukon) and Aklavik.

The photographs also feature portraits and daily activities of Inuit and Dene people, as well as Anglican churches and missions.
