One folder consisting of photocopies of the title page, introduction, and table of contents of "The book of wisdom", a book prepared by the Department of Mines and Resources which was intended to educate the Inuit on topics such as disease prevention, the Family Allowance program, and the care of rifles and boats.
One folder consisting chiefly of correspondence, meeting minutes, enrolment statistics, and photocopied excerpts from annual reports of the Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources, all relating to education in the North. Includes a program from the official opening of the Fort Smith federal school and hostel in 1958 (later J. B. Tyrrell School and Breynat Hall). Most of the material dates to the 1950s, but the file also includes letters written in 1981-1982 regarding the residential school in Shingle Point by a teacher who worked there in 1929. Contains personal information.
One folder consisting of correspondence regarding staffing, recommendations from a 1965 teachers' conference, and the language of instruction in Arctic schools; excerpts from conference proceedings discussing the interpretation of test results and the establishment of the Teacher Education Program; statistical summaries of school enrolment and staff numbers; an organizational chart of the Department of Education [1969]; a report on the education available for Inuit students; a press release announcing the naming of several schools in 1961; and notes on the history of Breynat Hall [ca. 1980-1984].

One folder consisting chiefly of reports relating to education in the NWT. Topics include the incorporation of Aboriginal culture in the classroom, problems at the Deninoo School in Fort Resolution, involvement of local authorities in education, financial assistance for students, and predictions for the future. Also includes statistical summaries of transfers in and out of Yellowknife School District No. 2 and of students attending university or vocational training in 1979 and correspondence regarding changes in teacher certification.
