Duncan's photo description: "Noon fire-cup of tea and a smoke. On patrol. Mackenzie 1930-35" [from back of photo]
Caption Source: Bill Addison
Photographer: probably Duncan Martin
WDA's Comments, 2014 Apr 22: The person kneeling behind the smoke appears to be the same one as in the previous photo. The standing person lighting a cigarette is probably the Special Constable. If so, this photo was likely taken on Martin's 1931-32 trip from Fort Providence to Kakisa Lake to Beaver River to Tathlina Lake (see the interview). Despite Duncan's caption, this photo would not have been taken in 1934 or 1935 because he had left the country in the fall of 193 3.

Duncan's photo description: none
Caption Source: Bill Addison
Photographer: probably Duncan Martin
WDA's Comments, 2014 Apr 22: This may be either a winter trail camp or, less likely, a noon rest stop, probably in the winter of 1931-32 on his trip from Fort Providence to Kakisa Lake to Beaver River to Tathlina Lake. The people in the photo are all unidentified and appear to be Dene, so this may be a group that he met somewhere on his patrol.

Duncan's photo description: none
Caption Source: Bill Addison
Photographer: probably Duncan Martin
WDA's Comments, 2014 Apr 22: This photo is taken at the same time as the previous one of Duncan Martin. Duncan talks as though he was the only one on the trip and he never mentions this person or the Special Constable. Here he is at a winter trail camp, probably in the winter of 1931-32 on his trip from Fort Providence to Kakisa Lake to Beaver River to Tathlina Lake (see the interview).

WDA's Comments, 2014 Apr 22: This photo of Duncan Martin shows him on one of several long winter patrols made during his time in Fort Providence, Fort Simpson and Fort Liard. Here he is at a winter trail camp, probably in the winter of 1931-32 because he had another RCMP officer with him (see next photo taken at same time), as well as a Special Constable, all this despite the fact that Duncan talks as though he was the only one on the trip. This would probably be on his trip from Fort Providence to Kakisa Lake to Beaver River to Tathlina Lake where he met Albert Faillie for the first time. He met Faillie again the next summer up the Flat River.
