Mines visited include Miramar Con Mine, Giant Yellowknife Mines, Ptarmigan Mine, Akaitcho Mine, and the BHP Ekati Diamond Mine. There are also images of the NWT Mining Heritage Society's activities, which include tours, building inspections, and artifact collection.

Records document Ryan Silke's visits to various mine sites between 2004 and 2005 including: Ryan Lake area (Ryanor and Goldcrest camps, Island Lake Core rack, and Crestaurum Mine), Aye camp, Rich YK camp, Keg Lake, Yellowknife River, Walsh Lake, Banting Lake, Oro Lake and vicinity, Garskie's Mine (Old Parr), Con Mine, Giant Mine, NWT Mining Heritage Society activities, Diavik, Tundra Mine, and a large report on a trip to Great Bear Lake. Sites visited in the Great Bear Lake area include: Contact Lake Mine, Contact Lake tunnel, Elbonanza Mine, Bonanza Mine, the Port Radium area, Mystery Island Mine and Cameron Bay (Branson's Lodge).

The textual records consist of a series of 10 reports that typically include a short historical background on the mine or area, the anticipated goals of the visit, a travel log, a site investigation report, a report on the various buildings and structures remaining; report on equipment and machinery, a list of items salvaged, a list of photo identifications, hand drawn maps of the site or area, and hand drawn rendering of buildings or floor plans.

Photographs depict Northwest Territories communities and activities. The colour slides, taken at Fort Smith, Tulita, Pine Point and Inuvik, are of the communities. Some relate to mining and pipeline development. The prints include enlargements of aerial photographs of Fort Smith, a paddle steamer at Fort McPherson, a residential school in Fort Providence, gardens at Fort McPherson, a view of Arviat from the water, and the Cambridge Bay RCMP police detachment. The community planning sketches were drawn by J. Lewis Robinson in 1945.

The majority of the photographs depict Ross' son Raymer's playtime and his life in the Arctic with his parents and their sled dogs.

Also included is correspondence, both business and personal, genealogy of the Magrum family, and a draft copy of a Ray Price manuscript entitled 'Brief History of Yellowknife'. The photographs depict George Magrum and his activities hunting and trapping on the barrenlands of the Northwest Territories, as well as those of his family and extended family. The sound recordings appear to be related to Mr. Magrum's diaries.

There are also images of the Northern Games which were held in Inuvik, showing dancing, drumming, rat skinning, seal skinning, tea making, blanket toss, and spectators.

Other documents in the accession include share certificates, legal paperwork, a log of Jake's prospecting activities in 1938, and samples of his poetry and prose writing. The photographs depict Jake at various stages of life as well as members of his family, prospecting activities, and signs and monuments beside Highway 1.

Approximately two thirds of the photographs date between 1927 and 1950 and document Sam’s mining activities prior to his arrival in the NWT (1927-1929), his mining, prospecting and camping activities in the NWT (1929-1950), and his brief period working on the Canol Trail (1942-1943). The remaining third of the photographs and the film date from approximately 1952 to 1960 and depict Sam’s nuclear family life.
