Records are comprised of a two volume report produced by D. Billingsly and J. Parkins of the Program Policy and Planning Division entitled "Government as Communicator." The study was undertaken to examine communication strategies of the Territorial Government and assess the effectiveness of government communication programs, as well as to evaluate public opinion of government communications.

Records are comprised of files generated by the predecessor organizations of the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre and include the following series: (a) Northwest Territories Historical Advisory Board - Permanent Secretary - Outgoing Correspondence, 1969-1974; (b) Northwest Territories Heritage Council - Coordinator of Historical Programs - Outgoing Correspondence, 1974-1978; (c) Territorial Central Museum - Outgoing Correspondence, 1976-1977; and (d) Territorial Central Museum - Subjects, 1976-1977.

Records consist of materials collected as resource information for the project entitled "Two Faces of a Northern Neighbourhood: An Historical Evaluation of the Willow Flats - Woodyard" (1985) The material includes a photocopy of an historical assessment of the Woodyard. The 3 plans of the Woodyard area are dated 1946 and 1985. The DAT audio cassette contains interviews with former residents, June Magrum, John Larson and Mary Frost. In addition, there are data sheets and summaries of the interviews.

They were collected by the Office of the Commissioner from a variety of sources.

The files contain Robert Douglas' monthly patrol reports from September 1951 to January 1955 as well as some correspondence. The reports are in general more detailed than typical patrol reports of the time, and include summaries of the warden's duties, weather reports, wildlife observations, hunting, trapping and fishing activities, lists of game taken and licenses issued. They were created by the federal Forest and Wildlife office in Rae and from Fort Smith, and kept by the Conservation Education division of the Department of Renewable Resources.

Records document animal trapping in the Northwest Territories. The textual records consist of general correspondence files (including flimsies), trapper's files, regional files, trapping permits files, Game Office files and Fur Export Tax Returns. The majority of the maps were produced by the federal government and are dated from 1932-1958. Many of the maps are annotated and document animal hunting and trapping in the following areas: Fort Providence, Fort McPherson, Arctic Red River, Gjoa Haven, Fort Resolution, Rocher River, Lutselk'e (Snowdrift), Victoria Island, Coppermine, Horn River, Hay River, Tulita (Fort Norman), Banks Island, Fort Simpson, Fort Liard, East of Fort Smith, and Fort Good Hope. In addition, there are maps of the East Arm of Great Slave Lake, McLean Bay, Yellowknife Bay and a map documenting Eskimo (Inuit) Registration Districts. Some records were produced by the division's predecessors.
