This accession consists of two copies of the agreement, dated 20 September 1986, to establish Ellesmere Island National Park Reserve. One copy of the agreement was signed in the park at Tanquary Fiord; the other was signed at Resolute. The signed agreements are stored in their original official folders. Also included in this accession are 9 colour photographic prints documenting the community of Resolute, the signing of the agreement, images of Tanquary Fiord and post signing festivities at Resolute.

Records include source material collected by Mr. Macpherson, including original files, copies of reports, and transcripts of oral history tapes, as well as drafts of portions of his book on the history of education in the Northwest Territories.
This accession consists of materials produced in an attempt to document an old Catholic Mission building in Fort Resolution. The building was constructed in 1905 and demolished in 1987, and was primarily used as a residence for priests and brothers. Prior to its destruction, staff from the NWT Archives along with an architect visited Fort Resolution and conducted an initial survey of the building. In the following months Gail Beaulieu interviewed Father Louis Menez and Violet Beaulieu about the history of the building. Records in this accession include sound recordings and transcripts of the two interviews; architectural drawings of the basement, main, second, and third floors of the building, based on measurements taken during the survey; and a photograph of the mission building.

NWT ArchivesThe sound recordings contain interviews conducted with Sven Johansson in March 1987 and March 1988. Included among this material is: (:0001) one reel to reel recording of the March 1987 interview, (:0002) one reel to reel recording of the March 1988 interview, and typed transcripts of the March 1987 interview. Mr. Johansson managed the reindeer herd in the western arctic from 1963-1968 and subsequently worked as a trapper until 1973.

NWT ArchivesThis accession consists of the visitors book from the Parks Canada cabin located at Virginia Falls, Nahanni National Park. The book contains the observations of people who visited the park between 1975 and 1982.
Records are comprised of copies of speeches made by cabinet ministers including Tagak Curley (Dept. of Economic Development and Tourism), Nellie Cournoyea (Dept. of Renewable Resources), Nick Sibbeston (Government Leader) and Dennis Patterson (Dept. of Education).

Library Services divisionRecords include documents on a variety of subjects collected by Commissioner Hodgson, including constitutional development, resource development of proposed zinc mining on Cornwallis Island and the 1970 NWT Centennial celebrations.
Records include two reports on the operations of the Northern Transportation Company. One report concerns resupply operations in the Keewatin and the other concerns alternative financing methods.
This accession consists of materials relating to Pope John Paul II's 1987 visit to Fort Simpson. Included in the collection are two programmes from the visit and seven colour photographs.

Department of Indian Affairs and Northern DevelopmentRecords are from the Expo '86 exhibit and include the Content Master Plan for the Northwest Territories Pavilion at Expo 86; files submitted to the Executive Council; progress reports; a pavilion overview; and exit survey reports. The Content Master Plan documents the story line used at the pavilion and includes photocopies of images used, photocopies of artifacts to be displayed and the text that was to accompany these items.
Records document the series, "Behind Closed Doors - A Series on Spousal Assault in the Northwest Territories." In addition, there are transcripts of the series.

One volume is labeled "Motor Vehicle Opera[tors] Permits," however, it actually contains a daily record of water treatment, storage and consumption in Hay River between 1960-1971. The second volume is lettered "Applications for Mining Locations", and includes a listing of mining applications from 1931 and a listing of Land occupation permits for Hay River, dated 1946-1950. The third volume, lettered "Applications for Mining Locations - Northwest Territories and Yukon Branch," contains a listing of Land occupation permits for Hay River, dated 1944-1954. These ledgers would at one time have been controlled by the Northern Administration Branch of the federal Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
