This fonds consists of one ledger of 'Indian Accounts' kept by A.N. Blake. The ledger documents the accounts of native traders in the Fort McPherson area.
Blake, A.N.This fonds consists of approximately 10 cm of textual material containing five diaries or journals and one trade ledger belonging to Ole Andreasen, who was a trader at Shingle Point in the Richardson Islands. The dairies date from June 1931 to November 1935. The diary entries include detailed observations about the weather, daily activities and visitors to the Shingle Point post. The trade ledger lists the prices and goods purchased from the trading post. In addition, there are typewritten transcripts of the diaries.
Andreasen, OleThis fonds consists of textual, graphic and cartographic materials produced durning Noble's numerous archeological expeditions in the NWT, and includes extensive field notes, original archeology reports, extensive cataloguing and analysis of artifacts found at sites, academic research and academic reports. This fonds also contains two binders of b&w photographs of the construction of Pine Point taken by Jim Cameron in 1929. Additionally, four binders in this fonds contain first flight air covers collected by Noble dating from 1929 - 1991.
Noble, William C.This fonds consists of approximately 3 cm of textual material and 10 black and white photographs. The textual material consists of a copy of a journal kept by Carleton Appleby during the summer of 1946, during a trip on the Athabasca and Slave Rivers aboard the boat 'Beaver Lake.' He also visited Yellowknife, Fort Fitzgerald and Fort Rae during his journey. The 10 photographs were probably taken that same summer and depict the communities of Fort Rae and Yellowknife, as well as individuals he met in Yellowknife and aboard the riverboat 'Dease Lake.'
Appleby, Carlton R.This fonds consists of one diary beginning in June 1933 and concluding in August 1934. The diary provides a daily account of John Nicholson's prospecting activities and work transporting goods to and from prospecting camps in the Great Bear Lake region. He was most active in the southeast region of the lake, particularly in the Sawmill Bay area. Included in the middle of the diary is a cash account listing for the Camsell River Mineral Syndicate.
Nicholson, JohnThis fonds consists of 262 photographs, a 1921 article written by Fred Jackson for the Hudson's Bay Company publication "The Beaver" about the first planes in Fort Simpson, notes by John Berens on the 1924 wreck of the "S.S. Northland Trader" and barge "Bell Rock" and Jackson's 1921 radiotelegraphy (telegraph) licence. The photographs include two albums titled "From the Land of the Midnight Sun" and feature various Dene and Inuit communities in northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Also featured are steam ships, the Hay River Mission and school children.

The photographs include images of archaeological sites and the communities of Fort Good Hope, Shingle Point (Yukon) and Aklavik.
Archaeological and Geological Reconnaissance of Alberta, Mackenzie Valley, and the Upper YukonThis fonds consists of 103 negatives and 4 prints duplicated from a photo album of images that were taken in 1920 and 1921. The original photographs were believed to have been collected by Hal Evarts, during a trip from northern Alberta to the Mackenzie River. He may have been the photographer for some of the pictures, although several of the images were available as postcards. The images include the settlements of Fort Smith, Fort Simpson, Fort Providence, Hay River, Fort Norman, Arctic Red River, Fort Good Hope, Fort Resolution and Norman Wells; Inuit and Dene people; Peel River camp; Roman Catholic and Anglican Missions; Imperial Oil Ltd. airplanes; and river transportation, including images of the M.V. "Lady Markworth," S.S. "Northern Trader," S.S. 'Distributor," S.S. "Northland Pioneer," and the S.S. "Mackenzie River."
Evarts, HalThis fonds consists of 543 photographs, 8 audio reels, 4 DAT audiocassettes, 7 16 mm films, 8 videocassettes and 2 cm of textual material. The photographic material consists of 543 prints and negatives. Included among the photographs are black and white images taken by Richard Finnie between 1939 and 1946. Some of these images were mounted into photograph albums and feature people and scenes of Yellowknife, Fort Rae, Aklavik, Fort Norman, Norman Wells, Fort Smith and the Canol Project. This fonds also includes images taken in 1931 of people at Coronation Gulf, photographs documenting Finnie's travels in the arctic during the 1920s and 1930s that depict aspects of the fur trade, mission work, government activities in the north including treaty payments, medical treatments, transportation, communication and the life of the Copper Inuit. In addition, there are images taken by Richard Finnie during a trip to Fort Rae at treaty time in 1974. Some of these photographs were included in an article that Finnie wrote for "The Beaver", Summer 1975, entitled "Treaty Time at Fort Rae". The fonds also includes a photograph album containing 142 colour prints entitled "Canol: The Authors Photographic Post Mortem" which was compiled by Finnie from photos of his 1977 tour of the remains of the Canol project.
The sound recordings consists of 8 audio reels (original masters) and 4 DAT audio cassettes (archival masters) containing the following: Trevor Lloyd interviewing Henry Larsen and Vilhalmjur Stefansson in 1962; E. M. Weyer interviewing Stefansson in 1955; and the soundtrack from the 1962 National Film Board film "Stefansson the Arctic Prophet." The moving images consist of 7 films created or collected by R.S. Finnie; the films were copied to 8 Umatic format videocassettes. The films are: "In the Shadow of the Pole" (1928); "The Arctic Patrol" (1929); "Among the Igloo Dwellers" (1930-31); "Ikpuck, The Igloo Dweller" (highlights from "Among the Igloo Dwellers"); "Patrol to the Northwest Passage" (1937); "The Dogrib Treaty" (1939); and "Canol" (1946?). The first two films listed cover the Eastern Arctic voyages of the "Beothic" (ship), and the next two focus on the Copper Inuit. "Patrol to the Northwest Passage" depicts the meeting of the "Nascopie" (ship) and "Aklavik" (ship).
The text consists of one file containing a copy of a draft of an unpublished manuscript entitled "Canol - The sub-arctic Pipeline and Refinery Project of Bechtel - Price - Callahan for the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army 1942-1944."
Finnie, RichardThis fonds consists of 196 photographs in both print and negative format and 1 photographic reproduction of a map. The photographs were taken in Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska and Lapland and document reindeer herding activities. One of the images is a reproduction of a map of the Richardson Islands that Dr. Hadwen used in 1939. The images are the result of numerous trips to the circumpolar north during the 1920s and 1930s when he was studying the potential for reindeer herding for both the Canadian and United States governments. Traditional Yupik villages and clothing are also documented.
Hadwen, Isaac SeymourThis fonds consists of 35 photographs from C.W. Mathers' 1901 trip from Athabasca Landing to Fort McPherson. The fonds includes the album "The Far North," published in 1902, consisting of 28 plate reproductions of Mathers' photos and 7 additional black and white photographs depicting Dene, Inuit, the interior of the Fort Good Hope church, views of river travel, portaging, and skin lodges. Copy negatives were made for six of these images in 1992.
Mathers, C. W.This fonds consists of 189 b/w photographs and one folder of textual material dating from 1926 to 1929. Contained in a photo album, the images represent Harold Wilson and party's 1928 'Prospecting Expedition to the Northwest Coast of Hudson Bay via Great Slave Lake, Hanbury and Thelon rivers, and Return via Fort Churchill'. The textual material includes a 1929 newspaper article from the Winnipeg Free Press describing the discovery of the Hornby party by Wilson and his party the summer previous, a photocopy of a photograph of John Hornby, and an original note written by John Hornby nine months before his death. The canoe journey of the Nipissing Mining Co. Ltd. employees includes photographs taken at Waterways, Fort Chipewyan, Fort Fitzgerald, Fort Smith, Fort Resolution, Fort Reliance, Chesterfield Inlet, and Churchill showing their camps, overland and coastal travel, and their fishing exploits.
Wilson, HaroldThis fonds consists of 2.5 cm of textual material. The material is comprised of a photocopy of a journal compiled by Kenneth McIntyre Dewar. The journal contains photographs, magazine articles, maps and entries from a journal. The document records the expedition of Kenneth Dewar, Harold Wilson, J.B. Muirhead and J. Thomson. The expedition was a prospecting journey from Great Slave Lake to Chesterfield Inlet via the Hanbury and Thelon Rivers. It includes Mr. Dewar's account of finding the remains of John Hornby, Edgar Christian and Harold Adlard.
Dewar, Kenneth McIntyreThis fonds consists of 1.5 cm of textual material and two photographs. The text is comprised of copies of the proceedings of the 1972, 1973 and 1974 Arctic Air Symposiums sponsored by the Canadian Air Transportation Administration. Jackson attended these meetings in her capacity as a member of the group working to establish a search and rescue group within the Northwest Territories. The photographs show a Canadian Forces Lockheed C-130 being unloaded at Alert in 1973 and May Willmot, a writer from Ottawa and a member of the Canadian Air Force standing beside a signpost at Alert. In addition, there is also a copy of the proceedings of a meeting held in Yellowknife in 1975 in conjunction with the United Nation's International Women's Year.

The records were created by the Girl Guides of Canada, Yukon and Northwest Territories Council, the Northwest Territories Council, and Local Associations throughout the Northwest Territories that were affiliated to these two councils. The records, which date from 1936 to 1990, have been divided into four series: textual, photographs, moving images and sound recordings.
The textual records, which date from 1961 to 1990, include Minutes of Meetings (1972-1990), Reports (1961-1989), Newsletters (1966-1990), Regional Administration Files (1966-1982), Alphabetical File System (1965-1987), Northwest Territories Council Executive Correspondence (1967-1978), Northwest Territories Council Programme Files (1967-1989), Chronological Correspondence Files (1966-1984). Also included are some records generated by local district associations and divisions such as the Midnight Sun Division, the Keewatin Central Arctic Division, the Matonabbee District Council, the Slave Rapids District Council, the Eastern Arctic Division and the Yellowknife District Council. The records document the development of guiding programmes in the Northwest Territories. They also document the relationship between the Northwest Territories Council, the various Divisions and Local Associations in the Northwest Territories and the National Headquarters of the Girl Guides of Canada in Ottawa. Subjects include guiding programmes and activities in the north; trips to territorial, national and international camps by girls and leaders; and training programmes for guide leaders and guides, pathfinders and brownies. There is also information on the annual fund-raising event - the Girl Guide Cookie Week, and the operation of the Distribution Store located in Yellowknife.
The photographic records include 472 photographs many of which were located in community file folders and miscellaneous envelopes. The photographs document brownie and guide meetings, enrollment ceremonies, trips to national and international guiding events, guide camps in the Northwest Territories, Annual General Meetings of the Northwest Territories Council and training sessions for guide\brownie leaders. There are also a number of images of special events such as the 65th and 70th Anniversary Celebrations of the Girl Guides of Canada.
The fonds also includes two reels of 8 mm films taken in 1971 during a trip to Ottawa; 3 original master sound cassetes, 3 DAT audiocassettes and 3 audio reels which contain sound recordings that document the activities of guide and brownie packs, a training session and campfire for leaders, and an Inuktitut version of the Brownie law, promise and story. The sound recordings were produced at Pangnirtung, Fort McPherson, Broughton Island, Coppermine, Cape Dorset and Yellowknife.

Northwest Territories. Interdepartmental Committee on the Integrated Management System (1969)This fonds consists of 1 audio reel and 81 photographs. The sound recording contains an interview conducted in 1973 by John Davids with H. (Bertie) Hollick-Kenyon. Mr. Hollick-Kenyon was a pilot and during the interview discussed a variety of planes that he piloted and some of his flying experiences in western Canada and the north. Mr. Hollick-Kenyon was also involved in the MacAlpine Search. The images include various airplanes used in the north, aerial photographs including views of communities in the western arctic and people involved in the aviation industry in the north. The print, taken in 1962, is thought to be the last photograph showing Henry Busse before he died.
Davids, JohnThis fonds consists of 21 festival programs and eight promotional posters of the Folk on the Rocks Music Festival. The programs date from 1980-2001. There was no program produced for 1986. The majority of the programs are full-colour, although a few were printed on newsprint. The colour posters date from 1994-2001.
