This accession consists of several fisheries reports, some in draft form, prepared for the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The reports include Market Research NWT Fish Products, NWT Commercial Fishing Strategy, NWT Fisheries Local Involvement Case Studies, NWT Fisheries: Mandates of Government Departments, and Tools and Measures for Fisheries Evaluation.

Accession consists of a feasibility study of Campbell Hills / Lake Park conducted in 1982, as well as 1982, 1983, and 1984 reports on N.W.T travel surveys. The accession also consists of "An Evaluation of the Impact of Summer Tourism on N.W.T Businesses: Report of Findings" which was released in 1983. Additionally, there is a conversion study for Edmonton Sportsmen's Shows from 1984. Along with the study's findings is a written report detailing the study. The accession contains another conversion study called "1984 Alaska and Canada's Vacation Planner." There are also two reports of the Canadian Heritage Rivers System from 1984; one is called "Heritage Rivers of the Northwest Territories: A System Planning Study" and the other is called "Background Report: In Support of Nomination of Thelon River, Northwest Territories." The accession also contains a feasibility study on a minimum economic wild game processing plant in the Northwest Territories.

The material dates from 1976-1984 and include files relating to the following resource development projects in which the department was involved: Slave River Hydro project, Slave River Sawmill, Polaris Mine, Liard Hydro Project, Norman Wells Pipeline Project, Borealis Mine, Emile River Diversion (Northern Canada Power Commission), Hire North, Quyta Lake Camp Proposal, License Plate Work Project and the Arctic Pilot Project. In addition, there is material related to the Resource Development Policy, Energy Policy and General Development Agreement. There are also several statistical surveys and studies conducted by the department concerning Coppermine Employment, Fisheries, tourism, income sources in the NWT, alternative energy sources, and the Dene Nation Economic Development Program. Records also include Minister's Speeches, and committee files from the Resource Development Committee, Committee on Incentives for the Development of Remote Regions, Technical Committee of the Water Board, Transportation Standing Committee, Environmental Review Committee and the Norman Wells Impact Task Force.

This accession consists of two copies of the agreement, dated 20 September 1986, to establish Ellesmere Island National Park Reserve. One copy of the agreement was signed in the park at Tanquary Fiord; the other was signed at Resolute. The signed agreements are stored in their original official folders. Also included in this accession are 9 colour photographic prints documenting the community of Resolute, the signing of the agreement, images of Tanquary Fiord and post signing festivities at Resolute.

This accession consists of records relating to tourism initiatives which the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (later the Department of Resources, Wildlife and Economic Development) administered or participated in. Many records relate to participation in the Deh Cho/Mackenzie Connection, Tourism Training Group, and NWT Arctic Tourism organizations, including meeting materials, reports, newsletters, lists of members and tourism operators, and correspondence. Additional records relate to training, tourism marketing programs, and the departmental logo.

This accession consists of records from the Fort Smith Region of the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The records include reports, correspondence, Division of the Northwest Territories Implementation Plan, as well as records of the Regional Coordinating Committee for Fort Smith and the Senior Management Committee of Economic Development and Tourism. The accession also includes records relating to departmental reorganization and business planning.

This accession consists of records from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, South Slave Region, including Tourism Marketing Program Summary Package, lists of Sales Leads and tourism operators, Consumer & Travel Trade Show Staff Attendance manual, and correspondence.

Records include reports, brochures and publications. Records date from 1977-[1995] and mainly consist of policy guides, published reports and brochures. Topics range from tourism development, regional economic studies, how to start your own business, venture capital grants, information on co-operatives, and information on trades. Notably this accession includes a visual identity guide on how to properly format the blue on white polar bear Government of the Northwest Territories logo for printing on promotional material.

Records include policy files on issues such as tourism, business development, renewable resource development, and land use; studies such as base line studies, business development and impact studies; records related to the Economic Development Agreement (EDA); planning documents related to economic development and divisional goals and objectives and various committee files.

Records include reports from communities in the South Slave Region, including the Fort Smith Mission Historical Park Masterplan and Executive Summary, a Study on Egg, Chicken, and Turkey Production in the Northwest Territories, Market Analysis of Hay River Community Futures, Tourism Development Study, Hay River Abattoir EDA Sub-Committee file, and the Rae Lakes General Store Feasability Study.

Records date from 1985-1994 and include a report from the NWT Business Council regarding participation in a Nordic Tour and the Department's response to the recommendations in the report. Records also include a legal opinion from Department of Justice and departmental strategy for the marketing and distribution of eggs in the NWT, an Inland Fisheries Marketing Study concerning the marketing and distribution of arctic char and whitefish, correspondence and documentation related to the management and development of forest resources in the NWT and a proposal for the Mount Pelly Land Preserve.

Records date from 1974-1994 and include regional consultation and development files related to parks, campgrounds, signage, tourist facilities, visitor’s centers, the Mackenzie and Liard highways and historical sites such as the Canol Heritage Trail. There are also records related to feasibility studies and reports regarding regional economic development projects, including marketing poultry and eggs, Hay River abattoir, Fort Resolution sawmill, Liard River Hydroelectric project, Slave River Hydroelectric project, and Slave River Bison Ranch. Additionally, there are records related to craft shops and marketing arts and crafts, as well as economic development plans for communities such as Fort Resolution, Fort Smith. Records also include guest book and visitor survey data from communities in the region, and minutes of meetings of the Big River Travel Association.

Records relate to departmental policy and initiatives, decentralization and devolution, departmental organization and establishment, long range planning, and include reports from the regions. In addition there are records from the Business Development Committee, Intersettlement Trade Advisory Committee, the Hire North program, and community files that relate to economic development project proposals and funding that was administered by the department.

The records date between 1962-1988 and relate to the design, promotion and operation of the Expo '86 NWT Pavilion. Included in the Expo '86 material is the film entitled "N.W.T. Pavilion Expo '86." The bulk of the records are from the Tourism and Parks Division and include files concerning tourism policy, long range planning, staff and guide training material, the Economic Development Agreement (EDA) program, tourism development strategies and studies such as the Great Bear Lake Management Study, as well as NWT tourism statistics and user surveys that were conducted by the department. There are also records concerning the development of Visitor and interpretive centres, Territorial Parks, campgrounds and signage, as well as promotional material such as the Explorer’s Guide, travel maps and fishing brochures. The remaining records are from committees or travel associations where the department was involved such as the Travel Industry Association, Fire Management Advisory Committee, Big River Country Travel Association, Western Arctic Visitors Association, Northern Frontier Visitors Association and Arctic Coast Tourism Zone Association.
