Lands division records include reports and recommendations on land information management, legal ownership of land and roadways, and granular material studies from various regions. Surveys and Mapping division records include flood risk records, records of the NWT Mapping Liaison Committee, and records related to remote sensing. This accession consists of records from the Land Administration Division of the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs, primarily relating to policies and procedures. The records includes presentation slides from the New Deal For NWT Community Governments MACA Lands Conference, a draft 2009-2014 Strategic Plan, a copy of the land administration agreement with DIAND, procedures, process flowcharts, checklists, application and report forms, notices, templates and samples, presentation slides, meeting minutes, discussion papers, duty delegation chart, Land Titles information and samples, and correspondence. The records also include copies of the Commissioner’s Land Act, Area Development Act and Regulations, Senior Citizens and Disabled Persons Property Tax Relief Act, General Sanitation Regulations, and Land Pricing Policy.

The records relate to the Land Development Loan Fund Act and Regulations, Commissioner's Land Act and Regulations, briefing notes, Resolutions from the Association of Municipalities and GNWT follow-up, surveys and mapping, agricultural policy, land use policy development, airport lands and transfer, recreation lease policy around Yellowknife, Land Development and Disposal, Land Administration Policy and Practice, Land Disposal Policy and Directive, Land Pricing Policy and Directive, Land Valuation Policy and Directive, Land Pricing and Subsidy Policy, and Land Lease-Only Policy and Directive. The records include correspondence, legislation, policies and directives, guidelines, assessment reports, Records of Decision, discussion and decision papers, options paper, studies and reports, briefing notes, news releases and articles, land use applications, meeting notes, band council resolutions, legal opinions, program information, maps, and reference material.

Records include community plans from the City of Yellowknife and property assessment records, including a land valuation file, a Board of Revision file and Assessment Appeal Tribunal files. Also included are records related to interdepartmental committees where the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (Lands Administration) was the lead, a capital planning proposal related to land use and planning from Fort Simpson, and a couple of operational procedures files for the Lands Administration division.

Accession consists of Zoning By-Law 57 for the Hamlet of Pond Inlet which includes a topography map. There is also a Pond Inlet Community Plan Background Report from March 1990 which includes a topography map, land development map and an infrastructure map. Additionally, there is a Pond Inlet Community Plan map for 1987-2007.

Records primarily relate to the New Deal initiative and Accountability Framework and include backgrounders, progress and status reports, presentation materials, draft discussion papers, draft ministerial policies, correspondence, a copy of MACA's 2010-2015 strategic plan, work plans, meeting materials, an overview of property assessment and taxation in NWT communities, and a working draft of the Accountability Framework. Records also include two external reports, entitled "Recommended Adjustments to Municipal Revenues, Financing, Service Delivery Alternatives and Investment Programs" and "Accountability, Capacity and Compliance: An Assessment Matrix for Community Governments", as well as a bound copy of "MACA Update Fall 2006: The New Deal for NWT Community Governments Edition".

Records include Community Planning and Lands Annual Reports from 1994-1998, and the Lands division's meeting reports, meeting minutes and conference minutes from 1989-1994. There is also one file relating to Senior Management Committee minutes and notes, dating from 1991-1994. Records related to the Sport and Recreation division consists of regional support files for the Fort Smith, Inuvik, Baffin, and Keewatin regions. Although these files contain some financial documentation, they appear to be the main records of interest with regard to facilities development and training.
