      The collection consists primarily of slides taken by Helene Caufield during her time working as a nurse stationed in the Northwest Territories. Photograph locations include: Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Reindeer Station, Inuvik, Fort Simpson, and Yellowknife. Topics include scenery and community views, Anglican churches, hospitals, and hostels, students and patients, and activities including sewing, harvesting ice, making dryfish, picnics, and walks. The collection also includes a portrait of Helene during her training and a two page list of photograph captions.

      Item consists of one 54 page self-published memoir, "Through Dr. Jarman's eyes - going north in 1956: featuring Dr. Ernie Jarman's photographs and slides of Fort Rae and surrounding area, Northwest Territories, Canada" by Dr. Ernie Jarman and Marney Jarman Bethell. The text includes many black and white and colour photographs taken in Fort Rae [Behchoko] detailing Dr. Jarman's work at the Faraud hospital from 1954-1956, as well as family and community life.

One of the photographs shows an unidentified woman setting up an x-ray machine outside of the school building. The photographs were taken by Monica MacDonald who was a teacher in Fort Good Hope.

Ervin of the Department of Anthropogy, U. of Saskatchewan, "Preliminary Notes Toward a Research Proposal on the Relationships of Culture, Death, Illness and Medicine in the Canadian Arctic". The second by John O'Neil, titled "A Preliminary Working Paper Towards a Research Proposal for the Master's Thesis in Anthropology".

The photography is a mix of commissioned work, such as portrait or family photography, schools, businesses, organizations, or government work, and non-commissioned photography, such as community events or photography of YK Foto. Due to this, the commissioned work has multiple copyright holders, which are noted where appropriate.

      This fonds consists of 368 colour slides taken by Dr. Hunt between 1948 and 1956. The images were taken in the communities he visited in his capacity as a dentist. Communities depicted include Aklavik, Fort Rae, Fort Resolution, Fort McPherson, Fort Simpson, Tuktoyaktuk, Wrigley, Fort Smith, Coppermine and Old Crow. The images depict residents and buildings in these communities. Buildings depicted include Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachments, Hudson's Bay Company posts, Anglican Churches and Roman Catholic Churches. The fonds also includes images of Gwich'in, Dogrib, Inuvialuit, and Slavey peoples. There are some images of Inuvialuit dancers and drummers. A number of images were taken in Dr. Hunt's dental office and include close-ups of his dental equipment. There are also a number of images of reindeer herding and reindeer corrals in the Mackenzie Delta, and a buffalo hunt in Wood Buffalo National Park.
