One folder consisting of draft material for a chapter in Norman Macpherson's book on the history of education in the NWT. This chapter discusses developments of the 1950s and includes information on key figures such as Joe Jacobson and Gordon Devitt, the development of the (federal) Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources, recommendations of the Westwater Report of 1958, religious influence in NWT schools, the construction of many new schools, the Subcommittee on Eskimo Education, and the first teacher's conference in Yellowknife in 1953.
