      Records include photographs of Yellowknife taken in 1945. The images were taken by a member of the Operation Musk-ox Expedition undertaken by the Canadian Army in the winter of 1945. The images, consisting of negative and print formats, show various views of Yellowknife including Con Mine, the school on School Draw, the Wildcat Café, the Yellowknife Hotel, a De Havilland Hornet Moth airplane and a Fairchild 71 airplane on skis.

      The images document Fred North's time in Inuvik (1957-1963 as principal of Sir Alexander Mackenzie School; 1965-1966 either as vice-principal of the new school or back at SAMS; 1967-1973 at one of the schools, probably as principal), Fort Simpson (1963-1965 as school principal) and Yellowknife (1973-1979 - spent one or two years as school principal in Lac la Martre / Whatı̀. Then he served as Superintendent of School Services-Operations ordering furnishings and supplies for all NWT schools). The images show schools, students, teachers, and classrooms, as well as northern events like carnivals, royal visits, and Northern Games. There are also images of various communities and the buildings within them.

      Photographs date from the 1930s, and depict views of the waterfront in Old Town, Yellowknife Drug Store, Canadian Bank of Commerce, paddle steamers, floatplanes, wreckage from a plane crash and the first gold brick poured in at Giant Mine in 1938. In addition, there are two prints of the Abasand Oil Ltd. Camp in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

      The majority of the photographs are black and white and date from the 1940s. A few of the images are colour and date from the 1960s and 1970s. The photographs were donated to the Society for duplication by a number of individuals. A number of the images were copied from high school yearbooks or newspapers. Some of the images may have been taken by Henry Busse. Subjects include Negus Mine, curling, hockey, dogsledding, horses, schoolchildren, views of 'Old Town' and the 'Rock', Ndilo, and 'New Town' images of the Yellowknife Inn, the Anglican Church, Yellowknife Public School (later William McDonald School) and housing developments.

Images also include the Yellowknife Expeditor (ship) and its Captain Fred Coe, William McDonald public school, the Dominion Government's experimental garden at Yellowknife, and pictures of Fort Chipewyan (Alberta) and Goldfields (Saskatchewan).

      This accession consists of one photograph of Ronald J. Jones' log house in Fort Simpson. Ronald J. Jones was a trapper and hunter who later operated a general store in Fort Simpson. He married Jeannie Villeneuve and his nephew, Jimmy Villeneuve, was mayor of Fort Simpson. Ronald Jones died in 1978.

      The textual records consist of a biography of Father Maurice Beauregard of the Oblates written by Elise Dery. Father Beauregard helped to co-ordinate the construction of St. Patrick's Church on 52nd Ave. in Yellowknife. The photographs were included in the biography and depict Father Maurice Beauregard, as well as the old St. Patrick's Church in Old Town Yellowknife, and the construction of the new church on 52nd Ave.
